Tea Therapy


It is amazing how much a cup of well brewed garden tea will impact on your health. Many have known tea as a beverage that gives you a lift, which is quite true; tea contains caffeine, which when taken in lower doses lifts your moods. A typical cup of tea contains between [45- 60 mg] of caffeine; much lower than a typical cup of coffee but enough to keep you elated all day long.


There are, however, other health benefits of tea, and the ones mentioned below are mainly characteristic of African green teas.


Reduced cholesterol

Cholesterol, a compound existing in the human body, and can be taken in through meaty and dairy products. It can have disastrous effects when it rises beyond normal levels; it forms plaque around the walls of the arteries, which may lead to heart disease or high blood pressure. Religiously taking tea has been known to have a knock on effect in the reduction of the levels of cholesterol in the body.


Skin treatment

Tea contains elements that attack the harmful bacteria on the skin. Long before this was scientifically proven; it was being used in East Africa for the treatment of various skin infections by adding it to bath water. It is also known to contain anti-aging elements - probably the explanation as to why people in the tea growing areas look younger than they actually are.


Oral hygiene
